Mumbai 3x3, known by their fans as the Mumbai Monarchs, are an Indian professional basketball team based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, that is a part of the 3x3 Pro Basketball League (3BL). The team is owned by the Indian cricketing legend, and former captain, of Mumbai Indians, Mr.Sachin Tendulkar. The team made their debut in the second season of the 3BL, which began as a traveling league across 10 cities in India. The Monarchs were led by their star player Amritpal Singh, who was a member of the Indian National Team. Currently, Amritpal holds the title for the most successful player in 3BL with 650 points, along with the "Player of the Year" award for the first season of the league. The Monarchs made it to the semifinals in their first season of play, and went on to win the second season by beating the Chennai Super Kings in a thrilling final, with a score of 14-10. The Monarchs, captained by the talented Prashant Singh, also won the first edition of the 3BL International Tournament, which was a success with 28 international teams taking part from 18 different countries. The tournament hosted by the Monarchs had the Minister of Sports of India, Mr.Anurag Thankur as a guest of Honor, and Mr. Keith Smith from the NBA as a special invitee. The Monarchs have had the most number of wins in the 3BL league, including major wins in the knockouts. The team is known by fans as the team with the most exciting plays; they are popular for their defensive plays and are often referred to as the "Mumbai Wall". They are also known for their 21 point comebacks. Although the current format is individual, fans remember the teamwork shown by the Monarchs during the earlier seasons. With a large fan base across India, the Monarchs also have a fan club; The Monarchs who support the team and follow them to every match the team plays. The team has received praise from former NBA stars like Shaquille O'Neal and Dennis Rodman, as they went on to their matches.
